There are two parts to the the disc golf tournament that are integral to the overall experience:
- The ‘Bag’
- The Jackass shirt (see here)
The Bag
The Bag, lower right, serving its function
We have noted in the rules that during the Disc Golf Tourney:
- Each brother must have a open beer in their hand during the round of Disc Golf and
- If a brother scores a double bogey on a hole that brother must do a shot of George Dickel Whiskey before continuing the round.
One might ask themselves: “Where does all of this liquid refreshment come from?”.
Answer: The Bag.
The supply of beer and other goods must carried with the brothers during the round so that adherence to the rules is maintained…the Bag is used to carry those items.
Note the large size and the medieval torture device known as ‘the strap’. When the Bag is heavy at the start of round ‘the strap’ attempts to act like scythe through the carrier’s shoulder.
At the start of a round the Bag needs contain:
- Enough beer to supply the ANW brothers (6) for at least 9 holes. The Bag can be refilled again at the turn.
- At least enough George Dickel Whiskey to supply the group for 9 holes.
- One (1) Beer bong.
An empty bag with the beer bong awaiting the yearly ritual. Sad to see it empty.
Note that the person who is carrying the Bag for the beginning of new round or at the turn is responsible for making sure the supplies in the bag are ample in quantity. Failure to include the necessary items generally starts with a shot and may include trekking back to the house to get more of the needed items.
Who carries the Bag and how is the carrier determined?
At the beginning of the tourney the previous year’s last place player (who received the ‘Meat’ trophy to commemorate that turn of events) carries the Bag at the start of the first hole. At the conclusion of each hole the scores are tallied and whichever player has the highest score for that hole will end up carrying the Bag from that point until at least the end of the next hole.
If the player carrying the Bag has a lower score than any other player they lose the Bag.
The Bag being transported by a brother during a round
If the player carrying the Bag and another play tie in score on a hole the player carrying the Bag at the start of the hole continues to carry the Bag through the conclusion of the next hole where the process starts again.
If two or more players have a score that is higher than the player carrying the Bag then (1) the player carrying the Bag loses the Bag and (2) the two or more players must play one or more rounds of Rock/Paper/Scissors to see who will carry the Bag.
Repeat this process as necessary until the round concludes.
