I seem to remember it rained that year.
A lot.
Like enough to collapse the tent like thing we brought to cover up the grill and other stuff outside.
Regardless, here’s a pic of everyone from ANW 2009.
After putting together last years Tourney scores and analysis (see here) I thought I would see how many shots are in a fifth.
A standard shot is indeed 1.5 ounces, and a fifth is 750 millileters. There are 44.36 mL in each 1.5 oz shot. doing the math, there are 16.907 1.5oz shots in a fifth. Not off by much really, but the extra mil and a half would be nice.
“a fifth holds 17.066667 shots
1 shot = 1.5 ounces
It depends on the definitions. A fifth of a gallon is 25.6 oz, 725.76 mL. A shot is technically an ounce, but shot glasses are generally an ounce and a half, technically a jigger.
That means the men of ANW downed slightly more than 6 fifths of George Dickel Whiskey chasing the ANW Disc Golf trophy.
Every year at ANW there are three trophies awarded:
Below is pic of one of the three identical trophies awarded to the Winners of the Washer tournament.
This particular trophy disappeared into the chaos of house move and was found just this past weekend safely tucked away in a cocoon of bubble-wrap that befits its status.
Note that these trophies have been in possession of the the ‘3fatginas’ team since the inception of the tournament.
A dominant, if often contested, run of wins.
Here we have a picture of one of the ANW brothers experiencing the ‘agony of defeat’.
The picture says it all.

Looking at this picture I can almost hear the opening notes to could you get herpes from kissing ‘ABC Wide World of Sports’.
ANW moments are just as dramatic as those enshrined here:
